Biodynamic therapy

Navenna Goffer

The Biodynamic approach to craniosacral was influenced by Dr Sutherland’s later work and was passed on through a lineage of osteopaths. The term Biodynamic comes from embryology, pointing to the lasting presence of embryonic processes in each of us. There are two main ideas at its core: one speaks to the rhythmic contraction and expansion of the whole body as a fluid system; the second acknowledges the organizing intelligence that is expressed throughout the body’s system of balance and repair. Some of the principles that I appreciate as a practitioner pivot less about applying techniques to the body and more of being a passive observer to the body intelligence expressing itself. This ‘doing nothing’ can be counter-intuitive for many people, but I believe strongly in this spacious neutrality that facilitates the conditions for healing.
