CHRISTOPHER GETHIN M.A, D.S.H, R.S.Hom

Homoeopathy

Homoeopathy is a true alternative to conventional medicine. It can address conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome and glandular fever which conventional medicine is powerless to help.  It can raise the patient’s vitality and defence mechanisms, help restore emotional balance, and assist healing in both acute and chronic illness.

Chris Gethin has been practising since 1985 and is a Registered Member of the Society of Homeopaths.  Many of his early patients were brought to him as children and now have children of their own!  He offers both ‘donation’ and private appointments at the Centre and also practises from his home on Dartmoor.

TIM SULLIVAN Lic. Ac, MBAcC, Dip Tui Na, Clin Cert Tui Na (Hangzhou),

Acupuncture and Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage)

Tui Na is a massage system that is integrated in Chinese Medicine. It provides effective treatment though a range of techniques, manipulations and intentions. Tim specialises in movement disorders, awareness disorders and issues arising from being identified outside of self.
I am a practitioner of Classical Chinese Medicine, a fully qualified Acupuncturist, Reflexologist and Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage) practitioner with over 20 years experience in body work and massage. Classical Chinese Medicine uses 6 meridian systems that are described in the classic texts. Each system is capable of treating all conditions but each one from different angles that are helpful for getting at difficult or intractable conditions.
I have been teaching Tui Na (Chinese medical massage) at LCTA, CICM and Leamington Spa. In addition, I teach postgraduate courses in classical Chinese Medicine, mainly on secondary vessels (sinew, luo and divergent channels). I am currently enrolled in the PhD program in America (AUCM) in Classical Chinese Medicine and have been a student of Jeffrey Yuen for the past 10 years.

ROGER HART STAT

Alexander Technique

In young children we frequently see an alertness and poise that allows them to sit, stand and move gracefully without strain. Yet rarely do we see that same poise continuing into adult life.
Most of us have developed habits which interfere with our natural co-ordination and functioning which in turn leads to symptoms such as headaches, backache, stiff neck, hypertension, excessive tiredness etc.
Alexander Technique lessons bring awareness to how we move and the way we react to everyday stimulus. We can then respond with greater ease and in such a way that prevents further problems.

Roger has been teaching the Alexander Technique in Totnes and Plymouth for the last 13 years and also teaches at Cortijo Romero in Spain.

MAGGIE ROSIER MA (ThB), RCST

Craniosacral Therapy, Psychotherapy, Bodywork

Biodynamic Craniosacral and Therapeutic Bodywork deeply acknowledge the inter-connectedness of bodymind and spirit. The gentle hands-on approach orients to the body's natural wisdom and inherent capacity for physiological and psycho-emotional change. My intention as a therapist is to connect with the underlying forces of health as they express a subtle motion throughout the membranes and fluids of your system, thereby facilitating a process of natural reorganisation, balance and alignment. This work is extremely useful to redress issues of stress, trauma and almost every condition that living life will present us with.

ALEXA JAEL ALLEN

Matrix Reimprinting

I Help People . . .

Physically – with; pain, abundance issues, weight loss, sports performance, chronic physical dis-ease, addiction

Emotionally – with; stress, fear, anger, phobias, depression, anxiety, mental health issues, creative blocks, behaviours/patterns, grief, relationships

Mentally – with; educational problems, dealing with limiting beliefs, concentration and focus

Spiritually – with; finding direction and purpose, managing spiritual awakening

…and much more. I can work with past-lives and future selves, and also enhance your work with the Law of Attraction.

What is EFT and Matrix Reimprinting?

It is very different from counselling or therapy. I don't work with the conscious mind, I work with the subconscious mind, with the programs that are beneath your conscious awareness that trigger you or make you act and behave in certain ways. I use and teach you tools and techniques that get to those particular programs and help you to change them really quickly and effectively with measurable results.

ALIDA EPREMIAN

The Meir Schneider Self Healing Method

Alida Epremian started her training in the Self-Healing method in 1995 under the supervision of Meir Schneider. Since then she has been working with this method for over 20 years with a variety of people with different conditions.

She first worked on herself having suffered from an acute condition of sciatica where she was bedridden. During her training Alida learnt to manage her condition and learnt gentle exercises to balance her body's innate power to heal itself. These exercises became integrated in her daily life and slowly she reaped the benefit. She became more conscious of her old habits that created this condition and learnt the art of isolation which was not too a foreign idea as she was a belly dancing teacher. There she saw the parallel between her art form and Meir's teaching which was based on this isolation technique also.

Self-Healing school is found in San Francisco. Her training includes 760 hours of bodywork and movement programme in the field of rehabilitation. It has the ability to create a powerful regime to improve health and overall function.

Alida is very passionate about her work and is dedicated to pioneering Meir's Self-Healing method in UK.

PAM ROGERS BA, MNIMH

Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine, one of the oldest forms of healing, uses whole plant preparations to treat illness and maintain good health. Almost any condition that someone might take to their GP can be treated. Common complaints include digestive or skin problems, gynaecological disorders, migraine, recurrent colds and flu, post viral fatigue, asthma, anxiety to name a few. The herbalist aims to find the cause of the problem and then chooses appropriate herbs to combine to create a unique prescription for that person. The safety record of herbal medicine by trained herbalists is excellent. Any age group can be treated and herbs can be used alongside conventional medicine.

Much modern research has confirmed that herbs help stimulate and support the body's own healing powers. Many promote the removal of toxins, nourish and relax the body and enhance resistance to infections.

I studied for 4 years with The School of Herbal Medicine (Phytotherapy) and became a member of the National Institute of Herbalists in 1986. I also teach adult education classes on herbal medicine and am available for talks and workshops.

JACKI BECKER RSHom

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a well proven system of natural medicine which uses remedies derived from plants, minerals and other natural substances to stimulate your body's self-healing capacity.

Homeopathy aims to treat disease at its roots, removing the cause of your illness as well as the symptoms. It has a wide scope of application and can be used to treat virtually any condition in the young and old alike.

I started training as a Homeopath in 1997 whilst working as a special needs teacher. I currently
work with a mental health charity and am interested in mental health and emotional problems in children and adults.

I also teach at the Contemporary College in Exeter and at a teaching clinic in Clapham.

DANIELA CORONELLI

Mindfulness, Shiatsu, Seiki & Movement Sessions & Training

Shiatsu is a complementary health-care system which incorporates Oriental Medicine and Western therapies to prevent illness, support health and personal development.
Mindfulness-Shiatsu combines the therapeutic benefits of Shiatsu and the proven practices of Mindfulness, in dealing with chronic pain, stress and ill-health.
At the heart of Seiki, health and disease are seen as aspects of our relationship to life and the therapeutic invitation here is how to address the balance in one's own life movement rather than focusing on mending "ill-health". For this, Seiki is also being practised as a guide to self-healing and development. www.lifehealingarts.org

I also offer training courses in Mindfulness for Health for those who are living with pain, illness and stress. www.mindfulness4wellness.org

SARAH SIDOLI D.O.

Osteopathy and Reconnection Healing, Psychic Development

As an Osteopath I primarily treat the structure and alignment of the body by combining specific adjustment techniques with Cranial Osteopathy to create a very powerful and potent mixture of treatment.
This can treat a wide variety of ailments such as headaches, whiplash or post accident trauma as well as neuralgia, asthma, arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, sports injuries and sprains. The treatment can address problems that may have had their roots in past traumas or have been triggered by a recent strain.

Patients often find that not only do they return to normal after a short course of treatment, but also that their posture has been dramatically transformed.

As a practitioner with 25 years experience, I am also a healer and work with guides on an energy level to give a reconnection healing which can treat all ages, from newborn to the elderly, with often miraculous effects. You may also attend regular Psychic Development workshops which I run at the Centre.

ANNE COCKCROFT

Therapeutic Massage and Acupressure

I trained in Swedish massage in 2010, having had a thirty-year interest in aromatherapy and bodywork. Since that time, I have run a therapeutic practice from home whilst working part-time as a primary school teacher.

Therapeutic massage can have many benefits; it can improve relaxation and relieve stress and tension, improve circulation and skin tone and help to detoxify the body. Regular massage can improve posture and increase the calm and balance in one's life and speed up recovery from injuries.

In 2015, I trained in Holistic Shiatsu-Acupressure at the Shiatsu school in Norwich.  There are few conditions, which cannot be alleviated to some extent by Acupressure treatment. During a treatment, the energy meridians and pressure points of the body are palpated, the practitioner uses the hands to sense and perceive the subtle qualities of vibration that underlie a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

Whilst practicing in the field of Acupressure the enjoyment and benefits of touching into the deep healing potential of working in stillness and presence, have led me to continue my bodywork training as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. I am currently a Year 2 student at The Karuna Institute on Dartmoor.

I have a keen interest and much experience and practice in meditation, mindfulness, self-enquiry, spirituality, and qigong.  These practices underpin, support and influence my work as a body therapist.

VERONICA FRIEND SRN. MAR. CThA(Reg). BFRP. Reiki Master/Teacher

Reflexology, Reiki, Bach Flower Practitioner, Nutritional Advisor, Hopi Ear Candles

Reflexology is a gentle, therapeutic, precise foot massage. Points on the feet (and hands) correspond to every part of the body. These are stimulated by pressure, sending an unconscious impulse to the body’s glands and organs.

Reiki is a natural, simple yet powerful healing technique transmitted through the hands. It means Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy. Both these therapies re-balance and support the body, mind and emotions, reducing stress and help to promote deep relaxation and healing.

Bach Flower Remedies work on emotional negative issues helping to restore harmony and happiness.

Hopi Ear Candles are a soothing treatment to assist many head and ear problems. I incorporate Nutritional Advice, where appropriate. I often find the therapies combine together supporting the whole body, not only in times of illness, but also as a positive way to maintain and strengthen health and well being.

I trained as a State Registered Nurse in Bristol and in more recent years became increasingly aware of the benefits of Complementary Health Care. I qualified as a Reflexologist in 1995 and as a Reiki Master Teacher in 1998. I am an approved Reiki Teacher, deeply committed to updated the skills that I practise and run regular courses at this Centre.

Smita Tomalin

Reflexology & Indian Head Massage

Reflexology is a treatment giving the body and its organs complete attention by working through the feet.

This technique of detailed yet gentle stimulation of all pressure points offers relief for specific problems as well as complete toning and energy boosting for the organs in the body.

I incorporate this with a deeply nurturing and relaxing foot massage which ensures a feeling of let and go and well being on the physical and mental level and an opportunity for the client to spend quality time with him/herself in peace and quiet.

I did my reflexology training in New York in 1990 and have worked with it ever since.

I am also a Reiki master and have completed a course in Veda-balance Ayurvedic massage and Indian Head Massage

I am also a meditation teacher.

NICOLA MOULTON

Reflexology

REFLEXOLOGY, re-developed by American doctors, amongst others, in the early 1900’s - is the therapeutic foot massage of ‘reflex’ areas on the feet which correspond to the entire body.

Reflexology works through the nervous system and natural energy pathways and is specifically designed to flush toxins out, strengthen and balance all aspects of the physical body and the emotional well-being.

Our thought processes and emotional energies are delivered energetically into our physical being.  They are part of our wholeness.  Releasing and balancing the body physically and also energetically as a ‘whole’ (Holistic) helps to bring about balance and well-being more effectively.

Regular Reflexology treatment can encourage improvement in well-being, moods, abilities to cope and the release of negative patterns of tension within the body and mind.  It is a good ‘preventative’ therapy.

At the Totnes Natural Health Centre I provide relaxing and healing Reflexology treatments.

I trained as a Reflexology Practitioner and as a Reiki Therapist at the Metta School of Reflexology and the Amida School of Healing in Totnes in 1998.  I am fully insured and a full member of the British Register of Complementary Practitioners.

KATE BELL

Reiki Masters/ Teachers

Reiki means Universal Life Energy, the vital life force which flows through all living beings. A Reiki treatment is usually deeply relaxing and can be subtle or very powerful, depending on what one needs at the time, and can facilitate change. Reiki is hands on form of healing which is a nourishing treat to yourself and brings love, harmony and balance to Mind, Body and Soul- so go on 'treat' yourself!

Reiki is a great passion of mine it has helped heal and transform my life, enabling me to become more my true self and to trust my intuition. It is a healing meditation that is continually changing and evolving. A treatment is as much a joy to give as it is to receive. We give individual treatments but also work together, offering a very unique opportunity to have a Reiki from both of us. This 'Double Whammy' is proving to be very popular!

Marc Wallach

Biodynamic massage therapy

Biodynamic massage is a central part of a broader body psychotherapeutic practice. Developed in the sixties by Clinical Psychologist Gerda Boysen, it draws from the then Norwegian convention of massaging Psychiatric patients and Reichian ideas of psychotherapy and human development.

What makes biodynamic massage unique is the use of the stethoscope to track the sounds of the gut (Peristalsis). Peristalsis is the body’s subtle mechanism for digesting emotional tension and nervous energy. The intestinal sounds  that appear during the massage signal a move towards a more restful and integrative bodily state, often bringing a delicious sense of lightness, fluidity and ‘being at homeness’ in one’s body.

The type and touch of the massage depends on the person. Nothing is expected of the client and there is nothing for them to do. We work with the idea that the body has an innate ability to self-regulate and the therapist is simply midwife for the process.

The massage is gentle and non-provocative. No oils or powders are used and it can be performed clothed or on the skin

More information can be found at http://www.centreforbodypsychotherapy.com/

I am a trainee body psychotherapist, philosophy teacher and lifelong martial arts practitioner.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works by harnessing the power of the conscious and unconscious mind. Hypnosis enables access to the subconscious mind which is very helpful for changing unhelpful limiting thoughts, beliefs and behaviours, empowering you to make lasting positive changes in your life.

I experienced the power of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy a few years ago myself and I very much wanted to help others make the changes they want to make.

I trained with the CPHT which is the leading hypnotherapy clinic in the South West. It is an award winning training and is accredited by many professional organisations including the N.H.S.

During our Initial Consultation I explain how the brain works, provide a clear understanding of the origin of our thoughts, habits and behaviours and explain how Hypnosis works. I also gather information from you regarding your aims and goals from therapy as each session is tailored to your specific needs and I provide a free hypnosis relaxation CD for you to listen to each night.

Hypnotherapy can help with Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Confidence, Self-Esteem, IBS, Sleep problems, Weight Loss, Stress related Skin Conditions, Anger management, Pain management, Sadness and Loss, Fears and Phobias.

Gill Turner B Ed Hons MARH LCHE R Hom

Homeopathy

I am a qualified registered and insured Homeopath with 20 years of experience working in my local community.

My interest in homeopathy was sparked when a chronic illness I had for seven years, and for which I had tried many therapies as well as the NHS, was finally cured overnight after a visit to a homeopath.

Having previously been sceptical about homeopathy, I was so impressed that I decided to train as a homeopath myself.

I studied at LCHE in Regents College, London, and practiced in a busy complementary medicine centre, as well as a charitable children's clinic in North London, for 13 years. As a part time primary teacher I found that parents were interested in the remedies, and I was able to help many children overcome health problems, physical and emotional, and see them becoming more confident and making strong progress in their learning and social skills.

Since moving to South Devon I have continued to treat people of all ages from 0 to 97, and to enjoy  seeing people's positive responses to their remedies.

Heidi Rose

Counselling

As a counsellor in my final year of training I offer short and long term therapy, following the individual and their needs.

I hold a space of deep listening, taking the soul rather than the mind as a starting point of balance.

I welcome whatever is brought, knowing that we are more than our personalities and problems.

I see each persons potential and believe that we have within us the wisdom to make 'right choices' and that in every situation we have the possibility for growth.

I sometimes work in nature, people's homes and in groups as am also trained in Ecotherapy, Interior Alignment and Council.

Carrie Allcott

Champissage facial massage

Champissage facial massage is a  form of massage which relaxes the whole body. Using pressure points and gentle twisting motions the skin and underlying structures are stimulated and refreshed.

I have recently trained and qualified in this form of massage and I’m delighted the Natural Health Centre has given me this platform to offer my natural and trained skills to people who may feel the need for some relaxation and a little pampering.

Facial massage is daily practice in Eastern cultures and is known to benefit a persons overall health and well being.

Lisa Adshead

Massage

Massage allows us to experience the benefits of touch in a space of unconditional acceptance. This is incredibly healing on all levels - wounding around intimacy with others and our ability to receive , can all be brought into the conscious so that we can heal.

Massage relaxes tension which can facilitate emotional release, improved flow of vital energy, improved posture and increased mobility.

It's possible to enter a deep state of relaxation during massage which allows us to begin experiencing the body as home and a place that is safe. Repeated treatments allow trust to build between client and therapist and deeper healing to occur.

I have practised yoga for 18 years, am attuned to Reiki and also work as a Forest School Leader.
